Call to Action: Seafarers Must Be Included in ‘Phase 2’ Vaccinations

One of our priorities at the SIU of Canada is to hold government to account and fight for our Members to ensure our voices are heard loud and clear to those in positions of power. To this end, we have been fighting to ensure that seafarers are included in the list of essential workers to be vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus once the ‘Phase 2’ rollout begins. We have said for years that we are stronger together when our collective voice comes together to fight for a unified cause. It is for this reason that we are asking the SIU of Canada Membership to join us in our call to action to ensure marine sector workers are included in all ‘Phase 2’ COVID-19 vaccination plans.

We are asking all of our Members to contact your local Member of Provincial Government in your home provinces and ask that seafarers and marine sector workers be included in your respective government’s ‘Phase 2’ vaccination plans.

We have created a draft email for you to send to your local politicians to make it as easy as possible for our voice to be heard. All you have to do is click HERE or below to download our draft letter to your provincial politician, fill in the highlighted sections with the appropriate information, and copy and paste the letter into an email to send to your local representative.
